Why a blog on self love?
Ten years ago, I woke up and found that many of my friends had gotten married or were in serious relationships and I was not.
I'd been in a couple of their weddings and I was beginning to sing that "always a bridesmaid never a bride" song.
One day, after wondering "why not me?" a little voice in my head asked, "Esther, how much do you love yourself?"
Wow! What a question. Here I was spending days upon days wondering why someone else didn't love me and I'd never stopped to ask if I did indeed loved myself.
That's when the voice chimed in again, "How can you expect someone else to love you if you don't love yourself first?"
Love myself first?
Isn't that a bit narcissistic? Pathological -- just plain bad and wrong??!
I considered myself a very spiritual person so loving myself first sounded pretty selfish.
Then the voice showed me a passage in the Bible that really opened my eyes to the truth about self love.
